A TRUMPET THROUGH A MEGAPHONE ON A HILLTOP
Intoart Collection 2025 exhibition
at Copeland Gallery, London

About the exhibition
A Trumpet Through a Megaphone on a Hilltop is Intoart’s fourth annual collection exhibition and draws from an extensive collection of over 5,700 artworks. Collections tell stories, and stories create the world. They help us navigate difficulty, bring joy and make sense of reality. Intoart’s collection is a time capsule of tangible artworks and intangible tales; of friendship, conversations and influence between artists.
In offering a snapshot of this significant collection, the exhibition draws out fresh relationships and weaves unexpected affinities. The title, taken from conversations between artists in the collective, acts as an amplified call for fresh connection. It is a tuneful command, for the artists’ ambition and vision to be met with curiosity and attention. In hearing the trumpet’s call, you are invited to look, connect, and be inspired to create a new set of stories inspired by Intoart’s growing collection.
Celebrating Intoart’s 25th year, this exhibition is envisioned as an extension of the artists’ studio – bringing the artworks to life through conversation and new encounters. It offers an opportunity to reflect on past achievements and look ahead to the next 25 years. Artists in the exhibition explore a diverse range of themes and materials, working with typography and book design, rendering kaleidoscopic visions of Peckham, sculpting ceramic creatures and building fantastical modes of transport. Painted portrayals of shy court jesters share space with lyrical, colourful abstractions. Some merge fashion, sculpture, and performance to create layered and hybrid installations. A sense of playful experimentation pervades. Colour abounds. Pattern spills across the room. Ideas and eclectic influences echo from work to work. The world is picked at and transformed.
